A orientation session in Bethlehem highlights national awareness and Palestinian memory

Bethlehem – Thursday, June 19, 2025

The Palestinian Ministry of Culture, in partnership with (SFI), (IACA), and the Political Guidance Authority , organized a orientation session titled "The Nakba Continues" at the headquarters of the SFI in Bethlehem.

The session was opened with a welcoming speech by Mr. Hisham Hindi, who welcomed the attendees and participants, including representatives from civil society organizations, a group of intellectuals, and university students.

During the meeting, Ms. Maha Youssef, a representative of the Ministry of Culture, emphasized that this session comes as part of the Ministry's commitment to instill historical and national awareness, and the necessity of recalling the painful moments in Palestinian history, considering them an inseparable part of the national struggle path. She also highlighted their role as a tool to strengthen national resilience and protect the collective memory and the struggle experience of the Palestinian people.

Colonel Mundher Al-Tamari from the Political Guidance Authority also spoke, providing a historical overview of the 1967 Naksa (setback). He discussed its profound impact on the Palestinian people and how its repercussions continue to shape the present at political, social, and national levels.

In addition, Dr. Ramzi Odeh, Secretary-General of IACA, delivered a talk that linked the Palestinian Naksa with recurring setbacks experienced by the Palestinian people. He stressed the need to learn from these historical experiences to enhance internal capabilities and adapt resistance strategies to shifting political realities.

his panel is part of ongoing efforts to promote political and cultural awareness, foster a deeper understanding of Palestinian history among youth, and underscore the importance of preserving the national narrative in the face of attempts at erasure and distortion.
